About Pamela — Your Life Coach

Hello, and welcome. I’m Pamela Van Nest, and for more than a decade I’ve been creating calm, compassionate spaces where women over 40 can quiet self-doubt, reconnect with what matters, and make meaningful choices about their next chapter.

My Story

My Story

I didn’t see it coming, although the signs were there. I was becoming forgetful, easily irritated, and overwhelmed by tasks that had once felt manageable. Like many women, I kept pushing forward, believing I could simply work harder and get through it. At the time, I was showing up for everyone else while quietly ignoring what my own mind and body were trying to tell me.

Then one day, my body stopped me. The muscles in my back seized up, and for six weeks I was forced to slow down. During that time, a small and steady inner voice encouraged me to rest, listen, and pay attention to what I truly needed. What began as a physical recovery became a much deeper journey of self-awareness and healing.

That experience transformed my understanding of self-care. I realized that meaningful self-care isn’t simply something we schedule into our calendars—it begins with awareness, self-compassion, and the willingness to listen inwardly. As I healed, I reconnected with what I now call my Wise One Within: an inner, compassionate guide that helped me move from self-judgment toward self-acceptance. That relationship continues to guide my life and shape the work I offer today.

As a certified life coach with more than ten years of experience, I know this terrain personally. My own experience with burnout deepened my understanding of what women in midlife often need most: permission to slow down, reconnect with themselves, and create a more compassionate way of living. It is this lived experience that inspired the coaching, retreats, workshops, group programs, and the Making the Time: Wellbeing Through Compassionate Self-Care Oracle Deck that I now offer to support women on their own journeys. The 56-card deck was created as a gentle companion to help women cultivate awareness, self-trust, and compassionate choices in everyday life.

My Philosophy

My Coaching Philosophy

My approach is rooted in self-compassion rather than pressure. I believe many women have spent years carrying responsibilities, meeting expectations, and striving for perfection while quietly neglecting themselves in the process.

The women I work with are often mature professionals who do too much for too many people. Together, we explore how to unlearn perfectionism, reduce the risk of burnout, and cultivate a kinder relationship with themselves. My role is not to fix you—because you were never broken. Instead, I help you reconnect with the wisdom that already exists within you.

Through compassionate reflection and practical support, I help women:

  • Face their inner critic with greater awareness and understanding.
  • Reconnect with their innate Wise One Within.
  • Replace self-judgment with self-acceptance.
  • Create sustainable self-care practices that support everyday wellbeing.
  • Build confidence, clarity, and trust in themselves.

I strive to create a coaching space that is calm, welcoming, inclusive, and grounded in respect. I recognize the privileges I hold as an able-bodied, white, cisgender woman, and I remain committed to learning, growing, and creating spaces where women feel seen, valued, and supported. As part of that commitment, I continue to learn from diverse perspectives and acknowledge that many of the practices I use are rooted in ancient traditions of compassionate listening, curiosity, and community wisdom.

Training & Approach

How I Support You

My work draws from a blend of professional training, lived experience, and a deep respect for the wisdom that emerges through reflection and compassionate inquiry. My study and integration of the Twelve Step process have provided valuable insights into how fear, low self-esteem, self-doubt, and perfectionism can contribute to burnout and disconnection.

In addition to my coaching practice, my experience as a teacher, consultant, and instructional coach has shaped the way I design and facilitate retreats, workshops, and group experiences that encourage meaningful and sustainable growth. These experiences are grounded in the understanding that personal transformation is most powerful when approached with curiosity, self-compassion, and practical support.

I am a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach, a Certified Associate Coach through the International Coaching Federation, and a Certified Group Coach. I also hold a Second Degree of Reiki through the lineage of Bernard Morin and Usui Shiki Ryoho. While my formal training has deeply influenced my work, I also acknowledge that many coaching practices are rooted in the wisdom of elders who guided their communities through listening, curiosity, compassion, and accountability.

Through one-to-one coaching, Oracle card coaching, group programs, workshops, retreats, and reflective resources, I offer a supportive space where women can pause, reconnect with themselves, and move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion. Whether through coaching conversations, the Making the Time Oracle Deck, or guided self-care experiences, my intention is always the same—to help women listen inward and trust themselves more deeply.

My deepest hope is that every woman who works with me feels heard, valued, and reminded that she already carries the wisdom she needs within her. The journey isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about remembering who you have always been.

Who I Serve

The Women I Walk Beside

Most of the women I support are over 40 and have spent years caring for everyone but themselves—capable, thoughtful, giving women who are often quietly running on empty. They may be navigating career changes, caregiving responsibilities, identity shifts, burnout, or simply the realization that the way they’ve always lived no longer feels sustainable. If you recognize yourself in that, please know that coaching is not about fixing you. You were never broken. It’s about coming gently home to yourself.

Together, we create space to explore what truly matters to you, strengthen your relationship with yourself, and build a compassionate foundation for whatever comes next. Whether through coaching, retreats, workshops, or self-care tools, my goal is to help you move from self-judgment to self-kindness, from overwhelm to clarity, and from doing more to trusting yourself more deeply.
